Four State of the Art Orthopedic Video OR Towers arrive at UHNBC!
JAN 25, 2019
Four Orthopedic Video Operating Room Towers have arrived at UHNBC! This need was identified in the Fall of 2018 and funds were successfully raised by the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation through The Copper Falls Project that wrapped up in November and those who generously supported the Festival of Trees 2018. This is incredible turnaround time, that speaks to the need in a very big way! We could not have done this without the tremendous support and generosity of our Donors.
With a total cost of $325,000, the four new towers supplied through ConMed will replace the current towers which are 10 years old and not reliable. This upgrade will result in faster, safer, less invasive surgeries which will lead to better patient outcomes and faster recovery times. It also provides state of the art equipment that helps attracting and retaining specialist in this area.
Working with the Orthopedic Surgeons for the region they identified a need for state of the art and more reliable equipment to help address their extensive patient waitlists. Hips and knees that need replacement, tears in a rotator cuff, and repetitive strain injuries cause incredible pain and suffering for many. This newer and state of the art operating room equipment will allow for less downtime in surgery, better images when performing a procedure which will result in quicker healing times and less invasive surgeries. This means everyone benefits from a more active lifestyle, less pain, and are back to doing what they love sooner.
“We are delighted to work with Northern Health and the supplier to bring these here so quickly. The generosity of everyone that supported this was overwhelming and really made it possible to have them here, and set up so quickly.” Said Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. “Training on the new equipment is taking place right now – so we are excited!”
