The Prince George Cougars, in partnership with CN, are excited to announce a unique promotion to celebrate CN’s 100th Anniversary, as well as the Cougars Family Day game on Monday February 17th against the Red Deer Rebels.
As part of CN’s sponsorship, they are buying every seat in the CN Centre, which will result in this game being free, yes FREE to the public. Additionally, “Little Obie”, CN’s popular mini train, will be providing free rides to the general public in the parking lot of the CN Centre starting at 11:30am. Puck drop for the game is 2pm.
CN was created by an Act of Parliament in Canada on June 6, 1919 and has since contributed continuously to Canada’s economy and prosperity. Through its evolution over the years — from a Federal Crown Corporation for 75 years to its privatization in 1995 — CN is the railway that uniquely spans North America from Eastern Canada to Western Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. For 100 years, CN has been serving Canada’s economy, from building the country to now moving over $250 billion worth of its customers’ goods annually, including the Prince Rupert port and many customers in Northern British Columbia.
“We are very excited to partner with CN to celebrate their important and significant history in our country and City, as well as to celebrate BC’s Family Day,” said Andy Beesley, Cougars’ Vice President, Business. “To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a WHL game that was free for the public. The Cougars are looking forward to a full building where collectively we can celebrate together and enjoy a great hockey game as well.”
“CN wants to improve the quality of life of the communities in which it operates,” said Fiona Murray, Vice President, Public and Government Affairs at CN. “CN has deep roots in Northern British Columbia and we are proud to partner with the Prince George Cougars for the Family Day game. CN wishes all who will attend, a safe and fun game. Go Cougars!”
CN Rail also will be donating proceeds from the chuck-a-puck contest and other fundraising initiatives around the Family Day game to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.
“We are so proud to be partnered with CN along with the Prince George Cougars in celebrating 100 years for CN Rail. What could be more perfect than aligning Family Day with such a momentous occasion for CN, their staff and family members and better health outcomes for the Region.” Said Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North Healthcare
Foundation. “We truly believe that healthcare touches everyone and promoting healthy lifestyles, wellness, reading, and giving back to the community at a young age through the Spirit of Healthy Kids program is an investment in a healthy future for the region. This will be a very exciting day for everyone!”
Along with the CN Centre name, fans thoroughly enjoy the CN themed Zamboni’s which will be in use during the game. In fact, one of the machines, the “Trainboni” as it has become known as, is decked out to resemble an old-fashioned CN locomotive.
Immediately following the game, there will be a FREE public skate with the Cougars until 6:00 pm. Take pictures and get autographs from your favourite Cougars!
Free tickets for Monday February 17th game versus the Red Deer Rebels are now available at www.ticketsnorth.ca, as well in person at the TicketsNorth Box Office in CN Centre. The promo code is “CNRAIL100”, and tickets are limited to a maximum of six per order.
