Community Heroes Weekend Brings Northern BC Together in a Big Way
This Thanksgiving, the Prince George Cougars, together with Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation and the Prince George Community Foundation, hosted Community Heroes Weekend, proudly supported by TC Energy / Coastal GasLink and Canadian Tire.
On October 11 & 12, the Cougars’ home games against the Tri-City Americans were dedicated to celebrating frontline heroes, first responders, educators, healthcare professionals, and others who keep our community strong.
To make sure these heroes could join the celebration, Cougars’ ownership donated $50,000 worth of tickets that were distributed to local heroes and their families, with even more tickets contributed by generous local businesses and community partners.
Fans drove the season’s first Mega 50/50 to a staggering $89,716 total ($44,858 to the winner and $44,858 to support Spirit of the North and other local charities), proudly sponsored by Inland Truck & Equipment. Throughout the weekend, players wore exclusive warm-up jerseys provided by Link-Belt, which are being auctioned to raise even more for the community.
The energy in the arena was electric, the generosity was inspiring, and the impact will be felt across the North. Community Heroes Weekend returns in 2026—get ready to cheer, give, and make a difference once again.
“Community Heroes Weekend is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the people who work to keep our city healthy and safe. It’s a weekend of gratitude, excitement, and recognition for those who give so much every day."
