Job Posting: Finance Manager

Position Type: Full-Time, Monday to Friday (occasional weekends)

Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation is seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Manager to join our dynamic team. Position Summary
As the Finance Manager, you will oversee all financial operations of Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with government regulations, and efficient management of resources. You will play a pivotal role in supporting our mission by providing financial insights, maintaining transparent reporting, and contributing to the success of fundraising events and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
• Prepare and present accurate monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Manage the foundation's budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and donor intent.
• Develop forecasts and conduct variance analysis to support decision-making.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
Payroll Administration
• Process payroll for employees and ensure timely and accurate compensation.
• Maintain compliance with payroll laws and regulations, including benefits administration and tax filings.
• Address payroll-related inquiries and ensure proper record-keeping for audits.
Compliance & Government Reporting
• Prepare and manage annual audit completed by a third party.
• Prepare and submit annual charity returns, tax filings, and government reports.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations, including CRA requirements for charitable organizations.
• Maintain accurate documentation for audits and respond to auditor requests.
• Maintaining oversight and management of all Gaming applications, licensing, and audits for the Foundation.
Event Support
• Collaborate with event team to provide financial oversight and support for major fundraising initiatives such as the Festival of Trees, Spirit Day, and Golf Tournament etc.
• Track event budgets, reconcile expenses, and ensure accurate reporting for sponsors and donors.
• Process financial transactions related to event ticket sales, sponsorships, and silent auctions.
• Provide on-site support for financial operations during events, including weekends as required.
Donor & Grant Management
• Maintain records of donor contributions and ensure proper allocation of funds.
• Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring compliance with donor agreements.
• Assist with grant applications, budget preparation, and reporting to funders.
Collaboration & Leadership
• Work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and program teams to support strategic planning and decision-making.
• Train and mentor administrative staff on financial processes and systems.
• Act as the primary point of contact for banks, auditors, and financial institutions.
Qualifications
• A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in financial management, with nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of CRA regulations for charities and nonprofit financial management.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Work Schedule
• Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional evening and weekend work during events or peak periods.
