Hockey Magic Meets Holiday Generosity as Spirit Weekend Returns to Lift Up Kids in Care & Families Across Northern BC

We’re proud to again join forces with the Prince George Cougars for Spirit Weekend: a two-night celebration of community connection and holiday generosity at the CN Centre while the Cougars take on the Kamloops Blazers. Together with the Cougars and the Salvation Army, this weekend helps bring comfort, joy, and meaningful support to children receiving care at UHNBC and to families across Northern BC.

On Friday, December 12, fans will enjoy Carson Carels Bobblehead Night, featuring a special-edition bobblehead honouring the forward who scored last year’s Teddy Toss goal. Season Members can pick up their bobblehead in advance through the Cougars office or TicketsNorth, and the first 500 kids (12 and under) through the doors on game night will also receive one.

On Saturday, December 13, the 32nd Annual Teddy Bear & Toque Toss returns - one of the most heartwarming traditions of the season. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and bring a teddy bear, stuffed animal, or toque to throw onto the ice when the Cougars score their first goal. All items collected are shared between Spirit of the North, supporting children in the Pediatrics department at UHNBC, and the Salvation Army, which distributes them to families in need throughout the region.

Spirit Weekend is one of the many ways our partnership with the Prince George Cougars helps brighten the holidays for local children and strengthens community support where it matters most.

“Spirit Weekend shows the true power of community. From bobbleheads that make kids smile to the Teddy Bear Toss supporting families through the Salvation Army and children at UHNBC, these traditions turn celebration into lasting impact.

We’re thrilled about the Carson Carels bobblehead—it’s a perfect Christmas gift, and since Carson scored the Teddy Toss goal last year, it’s extra fun to have it all wrapped together.”
