Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation raises funds to support exceptional healthcare across Northern BC. Working in close partnership with Northern Health and communities across the region, the Foundation invests in equipment, programs, and infrastructure that improve patient care close to home.
Our mission is to inspire giving that strengthens healthcare for Northern communities.
About the Role
The Philanthropy & Partnerships Officer is a relationship-focused role responsible for growing and strengthening the Foundation’s donor base through meaningful engagement, consistent stewardship, and thoughtful communication.
This is a highly community-facing role, with a strong emphasis on in-person relationship building. Through meetings, events, and outreach across the region, you will build trust with donors and partners and connect them to the real impact of their support on patient care.
You will play a key role in building and executing donor engagement strategies, ensuring a structured and intentional approach to how donors are identified, engaged, and stewarded across the full donor journey.
You will also lead donor communications and stewardship efforts, support growth in monthly and employee giving, and contribute to the development and management of sponsorships and partnerships that enhance the Foundation’s work. This role plays a pivotal part in building strong, engaged donor and partner relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Donor & Partner Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with community and mid-level donors and sponsors
Prioritize in-person engagement, including coffee meetings, tours, and events
Guide donors and partners from initial engagement to long-term support
Donor Strategy & Growth
Support the development and execution of donor engagement strategies
Help build a structured approach to donor growth across community and mid-level giving
Identify opportunities to move donors along the giving pathway
Donor Communications & Stewardship
Lead donor communications, including acknowledgements, updates, and newsletters
Ensure all donors are consistently and thoughtfully stewarded
Connect giving to clear, meaningful healthcare impact
Monthly & Employee Giving
Support growth in monthly giving and employee giving programs
Engage donors and staff through targeted outreach and campaigns
Sponsorship & Partnerships
Identify, cultivate, and manage sponsor and partner relationships
Support sponsorship outreach, coordination, and fulfillment
Ensure strong recognition and ongoing stewardship of partners
Donor Systems & Reporting
Maintain accurate donor and partner records and track all engagement
Use data to guide outreach, follow-up, and relationship management
Collaboration & Strategy
Support a structured, organization-wide approach to donor engagement and stewardship
Work collaboratively to ensure a consistent and positive experience across donors, sponsors, and partners
What You Bring
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Comfort in a highly community-facing, in-person role
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
Experience in fundraising, partnerships, or community engagement is an asset
A genuine passion for healthcare and community impact
