HockeyFest 2025

For Takla, hockey is more than a sport. It’s a symbol of resilience, community, and healing. By participating in HockeyFest, the Nation is raising funds to support critical healthcare initiatives that directly impact communities across the North. Every pass, goal, and save is a step toward better access to medical services, mental health support, and wellness programs for families who need them most.

Our team represents the strength of youth, the wisdom of Elders, and the spirit of a Nation united by purpose. Through our JustGiving campaign, Takla invites everyone to join the journey — to cheer us on, to donate, and to help bring lasting change to the North.

Mavrik was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in October 2024, just after his 2nd birthday. We have been primarily living in Vancouver since then while he receives his cancer treatment. Mavrik has completed 7 rounds of chemotherapy, 2 bone marrow transplants and is about to start 12 radiation sessions. Following radiation, Mavrik will have 6 months of immunotherapy. None of these medications or services are currently offered in the north for Mavrik, and he’s away from his sisters and cousins who he loves SO MUCH. This funding could help us get closer to home for this life saving medical care.

This year is extra special for us because we’re lacing up for the very first HockeyFest Ball Hockey Tournament alongside some incredible Special Olympics BC - Prince George athletes.
