HockeyFest 2025: A Weekend of Community, Competition, and Caring

What a weekend! The very first HockeyFest in Prince George was an incredible success — and it’s all thanks to the players, fans, sponsors, vendors, and volunteers who came together to make it happen.

From September 19–21, the CN Centre parking lot was transformed into a ball hockey festival like no other. Teams of all ages and skill levels laced up to compete, laugh, and cheer — not just for the love of the game, but to bring cancer care closer to home for Northern families. Every pass, every save, and every goal was part of something bigger: supporting Spirit of the North’s mission to improve healthcare throughout the region.

A Milestone in Healthcare

While the games brought plenty of excitement, the true victory of HockeyFest was what it helped support: the launch of the MRI Guided Breast Biopsy Service at UHNBC. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Auxiliary to UHNBC, who contributed $115,660, patients across Northern BC will soon benefit from this life-changing diagnostic service closer to home.

This transformational gift highlights exactly what HockeyFest is about: community spirit fueling better healthcare for our region. (Read more about the Auxiliary’s impact here.)

A Big Thank You to Our Sponsors & Vendors

HockeyFest wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors and community partners. Their contributions helped make the weekend exciting, welcoming, and unforgettable. From prize giveaways to refreshments, vendor booths, and on-site experiences, every partner played a role in creating an atmosphere of fun and giving.

We are especially grateful to our presenting and supporting sponsors, as well as the vendors who kept teams fueled and fans engaged throughout the weekend. Their involvement showcased the power of local businesses and organizations working together for a great cause.

The Spirit of Community

Beyond the games and prizes, HockeyFest was about community spirit. Families, friends, and fans filled the site to cheer, shop, eat, and celebrate. Volunteers worked tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Together, we proved that when Northern BC rallies around a cause, amazing things can happen.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making the inaugural HockeyFest in Prince George a resounding success. We can’t wait to see you next year — stay tuned for 2026 dates!
