Advancing Pediatric Care at UHNBC with New High-Precision Scale

Tiny patients need incredibly precise care.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, the pediatrics department at UHNBC is now using a high-precision pediatric scale that’s already making a meaningful difference for babies and their care teams.

This advanced equipment allows clinicians to capture highly accurate weight measurements, providing critical insight into how much a baby is feeding, whether they are receiving the right amount of IV fluids, and how they are progressing day-to-day.

As one staff member shared:

“The scale allows us to get such accurate weights on babies that we can now see how much they ate in a feeding session, whether they’re getting enough or too much IV fluids, and if they’re growing enough day-to-day.”

These small measurements provide big insights, helping clinicians make informed decisions, support healthy growth, and give families added reassurance during some of their most vulnerable moments.

This is the impact of community support: delivering better care for the smallest patients in the North.
