Collaboration in Action: Advancing Diagnostics in Fort St. John

Through a strong partnership with the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation, we were proud to help bring a new MALDI Biotyper to Fort St. John Hospital, supporting faster, more precise diagnostics for patients across the region.

This advanced piece of laboratory equipment plays a critical role in identifying bacteria and other microorganisms within minutes rather than days. By significantly reducing the time it takes to diagnose infections, clinicians can make informed treatment decisions more quickly, leading to earlier interventions, improved outcomes, and more targeted care.

In a clinical setting, that time matters. Faster identification means the right treatment can begin sooner, helping reduce complications and, in some cases, save lives.

This project is a powerful example of what can be achieved through collaboration. With the support of the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation and the dedication of healthcare teams, this technology is now making a real difference for patients and providers in Northern BC.

When communities work together, we can continue to strengthen healthcare across the North, bringing better care, closer to home.
