Northwestel Supports Fort Nelson General Hospital with Vital Signs Machine Donation

Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, in partnership with the Fort Nelson Hospital & Healthcare Foundation, is proud to announce that Northwestel has generously funded a new vital signs machine for Fort Nelson General Hospital. This gift marks the first year of a three-year pledge dedicated to enhancing healthcare access in Fort Nelson and the surrounding region.

A vital signs machine is an essential piece of equipment used daily by healthcare professionals to monitor key indicators such as blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation. These machines provide fast, accurate assessments that are critical to emergency response, inpatient care, and ongoing clinical evaluation. The need for this equipment was identified directly by frontline medical teams in Fort Nelson, and Northwestel immediately stepped forward to help meet that need.

“We are incredibly thankful to Northwestel for supporting the purchase of this new vital signs machine for Fort Nelson General Hospital,” said Aimee Cassie, CEO, Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. “Their commitment to equipping healthcare professionals and supporting care close to home demonstrates the real impact strong local partnerships can have in reducing barriers to healthcare in northern communities.”

This investment reflects Northwestel’s broader commitment to building stronger, more connected communities across Northern British Columbia. Guided by their mission to create a highly connected North where everyone can prosper and thrive, Northwestel continues to invest in initiatives that support well-being and ensure northern residents have access to quality healthcare closer to home.

“We are proud to work with the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation and the Fort Nelson Hospital & Healthcare Foundation to help fund the acquisition of a new vital signs machine,” said Curtis Shaw, President, Northwestel. “This donation reflects our commitment to supporting healthcare close to home and working with local partners to strengthen northern communities.”

The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation and the Fort Nelson Hospital & Healthcare Foundation extend their sincere thanks to the entire Northwestel team for recognizing the importance of supporting healthcare in Fort Nelson. This gift represents more than a donation. It is a partnership rooted in community, connection, and care for the North.
